Fahmi: PH maintaining 21-seat contest in Melaka election for now

Translate

KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan is maintaining its decision to contest 21 seats in the Melaka election for now, with any changes subject to a final decision by the coalition's top leadership.

PH communications director Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said the coalition will concentrate on the seats that have already been announced.

"We have announced 21 seats. If there are any changes, we leave it to the leadership to announce," he told reporters at a Deepavali contribution event for the Lembah Pantai parliamentary constituency at IWK Eco Park @ Pantai Dalam tonight.

Fahmi said PH will evaluate its participation in the state polls based on its own capacity and capabilities, taking into account strategic and tactical considerations.

"We know several other parties will announce their candidates tomorrow. That is their prerogative, but our considerations are grounded in Pakatan Harapan's own capabilities," he said.

Media reports previously indicated that PH was poised to contest three additional seats in the election, with PKR allocated one more seat and Amanah two.

If finalised, the move would see PH contest 24 of the 28 state seats in Melaka.
