Asian Games: India clinch silver in women's 50m rifle 3P; Tilottama, Vidarsa enter final

India's shooters continued their medal-winning run at the Asian Games as Tilottama Sen, Vidarsa K. Vinod and Ashi Chouksey combined to clinch silver in the women's 50m rifle 3 positions team event.

The Indian trio finished with 1,763 points, 10 behind gold medallists China, who equalled their own Games Record with a total of 1,773.The silver medal was accompanied by a double boost for India, with Tilottama and Vidarsa qualifying for the individual final after finishing third and sixth respectively. Ashi, despite contributing to the team's podium finish, missed out on an individual final berth.

Tilottama leads India's charge

Tilottama emerged as India's leading performer in qualification, finishing third with 590 points.

She began strongly with 197 in the kneeling position and followed it up with 198 in prone. The Indian shooter then held her nerve in standing, registering series of 97 and 98 to secure a place in the final.Only two Chinese shooters finished ahead of Tilottama, with scores of 594 and 591.

Vidarsa fights back to book final berth

Vidarsa produced an impressive comeback after a difficult start to her qualification campaign. A score of 193 in kneeling left her with ground to make up, but she responded with an excellent 199 in prone to move up the standings.

She saved her strongest finish for the standing position, shooting consecutive series of 98 to take her overall score to 588. The late surge lifted her to sixth place and secured India's second spot in the individual final.

Ashi misses final but contributes to team silver

Ashi Chouksey finished 15th with 585 points, missing out on a place in the individual final. After scoring 196 in kneeling and an impressive 199 in prone, Ashi was well placed heading into the standing section.

However, a 93 in her opening standing series proved costly. She recovered with a 97 in her final series but could not break into the top eight.Nevertheless, Ashi's contribution was vital to India's combined score of 1,763, which secured the team silver behind China.With the team medal secured, India's attention now turns to the individual final, scheduled to begin at 9:30 am IST. Tilottama and Vidarsa will look to build on their qualification performances and add to India's shooting medal tally.
