Translate

A 19-year-old student believed to have been strangled by her boyfriend following an argument was found dead at a house in Air Putih, Kuantan, early this morning.

Kuantan police chief Ashari Abu Samah said the boyfriend, also 19, was arrested at the scene after contacting the police himself at 4.32am to report the incident, according to Berita Harian.

“The victim was found lying unconscious on a bed. We found strangulation marks on her,” he was quoted as saying.

He said preliminary investigations suggested that the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding between the two.

A post-mortem will be conducted at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital to determine the cause of death.

Police are recording statements from witnesses and have urged those with information regarding the incident to step forward.

The suspect has been remanded for seven days until Oct 12 for investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
