Steam is always getting free games, but the quality of those free titles can sometimes be hit or miss. While countless games have gotten free demos or free early access periods, the window is a bit smaller when it comes to games that are 100% free to keep forever. Thankfully, there's a brand-new RPG that's on Steam now, and not only is it free to keep, it's actually pretty solid, currently sitting with "Positive" reviews after being available for only the last 24 hours.

Arguably, most free RPGs on Steam are actually free-to-play and gacha games that will entice players with a purchase or two along the way. That's thankfully not the case here. Instead, you're being offered a completely free RPG that requires nothing but your time. It's admittedly pretty short (most people can beat it in around 2 hours), but for an RPG that's being offered up at no cost, it's a pretty sweet deal.

WendyQuest: Legend of the Four Corner Stones is a brand-new RPG on Steam that pays homage to the classic JRPGs. It has classic pixel-art, giving it a SNES look that should remind fans of games from that era like Final Fantasy 6, Chrono Trigger, and Secret of Mana. You'll also need to solve puzzles, giving it some serious The Legend of Zelda vibes, and fight off against mech bosses.

As you might expect, you'll play as Wendy herself, but there are a number of party members joining you along the way. With enemies like Golden Archers and Hot Sludge Sundaes, the Dragon Quest-like puns should keep you smiling the whole way through. Yes, this is all just a clever and shameless marketing scheme to get us all to buy food from Wendy's, but at least it's a GOOD marketing scheme.

WendyQuest: Legend of the Four Corner Stones is available to play on Steam Deck as well, so you can chip away while on the go (maybe even while waiting in a drive-thru). The RPG is also 100% free on Steam, and it's yours to keep. So, even if you're just morbidly curious to see what a fast food-themed JRPG would be like, you can check it out at zero risk and zero cost. The game currently sits with "Positive" review scores on Steam.

WendyQuest combat of Wendy, dual-wielding spatulas, is facing off against a monster that looks like a box of fries, except the fries have snake heads.

Wendy's has been on an absolute tear lately when it comes to clever marketing. Songs to Listen to in a Wendy's Parking Lot, a 6-track emo EP, came out a month ago. It was surprisingly catchy and well-done, and anyone who grew up in the early 2000s should instantly feel nostalgic. Now, that's being followed up with the RPG, WendyQuest: Legend of the Four Corner Stones. At this point, I'm just excited to see what the company comes up with next.

It's no secret the fast food chain has been suffering when it comes to sales lately, but this kind of clever marketing is surely a way to keep Wendy's at the front of people's minds. Be sure to check out WendyQuest: Legend of the Four Corner Stones on Steam. In terms of free RPGs, it's actually a lot of fun.
