Dungeon Crawler Carl: Celestial Officially Announced

Nicholas Becher is a gaming journalist with an MFA in Creative Writing from FAU. With extensive experience playing video games, he covers all forms of gaming content at Screen Rant, from breaking news to the latest fan theories. Most-played games range from Clair Obscur to Civ to Elden Ring to Halo 2 and beyond.

If you've been crawling through the World Dungeon and loving the Dungeon Crawler Carl books since the beginning, you're likely on high alert for any new releases from Matt Dinniman's unique LitRPG universe. With hype for Book 9 at an all-time high after the recent announcement of a brand-new Crawler we've never met before that was previously only teased at the end of A Parade of Horribles, fans are in full-on speculation mode for how the final chapters of the saga will play out.

Fortunately, Crawlers won't have to wait all that long to descend to the next floor, as Dinniman's beloved fantasy world returns in 2026 with several new projects, including the recently released Vol. 2 of the graphic novel WEBTOON adaptation from Vault Comics, the upcoming deluxe edition of the OG DCC book arriving this fall, and of course, the highly anticipated Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG and Unstoppable board game set to drop this November, which blew through its Backerkit goal earlier this year.

Renegade Game Studios is bringing the World Dungeon to tabletops later this year with two major releases, allowing fans to experience the chaos and shenanigans of Dinniman's LitRPG for themselves. The centerpiece is a full-fledged tabletop RPG featuring customizable characters, more than 30 playable races, and an enormous assortment of classes and abilities.

Players can create their own crawlers, battle dangerous and familiar enemies from the books, get their hands on some sweet sweet loot, and fight for their lives as they find a set of stairs leading down to the next floor.

Crawler Carl: Unstoppable offers a different experience, featuring both a solo and co-op card-crafting deck-building tabletop game. Both games are scheduled for retail release in November 2026, although the most dedicated fans had an opportunity to secure the stacked Celestial tier pledge during the original crowdfunding campaign.

The ultimate package was the $490 Celestial RPG + Unstoppable All-In tier, which essentially combined everything the campaign had to offer into one enormous collection. Alongside physical and digital versions of the RPG's Starter Set and Core Rulebook, backers will receive Unstoppable and all its expansions, multiple sets of character-themed dice, collectible miniatures featuring Carl, Princess Donut, Mongo, and other familiar characters, and an assortment of themed accessories. Here's a full look at what they'll be getting:

The collection also includes playmats, character journals, dice bags, stickers, and other collectibles referencing some of the series' most memorable moments. Backers additionally receive the campaign's unlocked stretch goals, digital tabletop resources, and a complimentary season pass providing additional RPG content throughout the game's first year.

However, even the $490 package wasn't the most expensive option available to particularly devoted fans. Several limited Celestial Loot Boxes, priced between $690 and $900, included everything in the standard Celestial tier alongside exclusive and truly unique DCC experiences. These ranged from opportunities to actually play the game alongside Dinniman and Jeff Hays at Gen Con to receiving a personalized voice recording from Hays or helping design their own specialized character for an official future RPG adventure.

Unsurprisingly, these packages were aimed squarely at hardcore Dungeon Crawler Carl enthusiasts, given the absurdly high price tag, though those who pledged the exorbitant prices are certainly getting their money's worth. Unfortunately for anyone hoping to secure one of these bundles now, the crowdfunding campaign officially ended on May 19, 2026, meaning the original Celestial pledge packages are no longer available.

That said, any Donut Holes who missed out on the campaign can still pre-order the standard games and certain accessories through Renegade Game Studios' website. Both the Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG and Unstoppable tabletop game are set to arrive in November 2026.
