Another Bihar shocker: After Jamui, Banka, minors abused, assaulted near Gaya hill

Two minors were allegedly assaulted by youths in Mahuadih village near Sherghati police station on Monday.

GAYA: Two people have been arrested after a minor boy and girl were allegedly abused and assaulted by a group of youths near a hill in Mahuadih village under Sherghati police station on Monday.Police action followed after a video purportedly showing the incident surfaced on social media.According to police, the boy and girl were travelling on a motorcycle when they reached the area and were allegedly stopped by a group of youths. The youths allegedly abused and assaulted them, snatched the motorcycle keys and punctured its tyres. The two were allegedly made to remain at the spot for some time.SSP Sushil Kumar said on Tuesday that two suspects had been arrested and an FIR registered at Sherghati police station.Police said the video came to their notice after the boy and girl had visited the Chaanpi area under Sherghati police station. Investigators are now working to identify the other youths allegedly involved and make further arrests.Police are also verifying the circumstances surrounding the incident and the authenticity of the video.The Gaya case comes amid a series of incidents in Bihar in which videos allegedly showing girls being harassed or assaulted have surfaced online, prompting police investigations and arrests.

In Banka, police recently registered a suo motu case against six unidentified youths after a video allegedly showing a minor girl being harassed at the Mandar Parvat tourist site surfaced on social media. Police said the footage may be around six months old and were verifying when the incident actually occurred.In Jamui, police also arrested a man in connection with a case involving the alleged death of a college student, with the investigation focusing on her relationship with the accused and the circumstances surrounding her death.In Samastipur, four people were arrested after another video allegedly showing a minor girl being harassed in public surfaced online. Police registered a case under relevant provisions of the BNS, IT Act and POCSO Act.
