Thai tennis players advance at Asian Games as Phatcharin sets up clash with Eala
NAGOYA, Japan — 27 September 2026, Thailand’s Phatcharin Cheapchandej advanced to the next round of the women’s singles tennis competition at the 2026 Asian Games after defeating her opponent from Pakistan 2-0 in the opening round on Sunday.
Phatcharin, known as Eve, will face Alexandra Eala of the Philippines in the next round.
Eala is the reigning SEA Games champion, ranked No. 18 in the world and the No. 1 seed at the Asian Games. She received a bye in the opening round.
Meanwhile, Thailand’s Mananchaya Sawangkaew, the SEA Games runner-up and world No. 88, also advanced after beating Mongolia’s Maralgoo Chogsoj 6-4, 6-2.
