Rebuild Nigeria, Trinity chancellor tells graduates
The Chancellor of Trinity University, Lagos, Prince Samuel Adedoyin, has called on graduates of the institution to contribute to rebuilding the country.
He made the call on Friday during the fifth convocation ceremony of the university, tagged, ‘Convoking a Galaxy of Stars: Shining the Trinity Light to the World’, held in Yaba, Lagos.
He said Nigeria was in dire need of passionate graduates who would use their knowledge and skills to rewrite its story.
Adedoyin said, “I see teachers, lawyers, scientists, and creators who will not leave Nigeria to fall sick, but will stay to build it. This is Nigeria’s rising time. It will be led by graduates like you, young people whose education has been anchored on faith, excellence, and a sense of beauty beyond self. The class of 2026, go into this country and build it. Go into the economy and rebuild it. Go into its story and build it.”
In his address, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Clement Kolawole, urged the graduates to be good ambassadors of the institution and uphold its standards of character and learning.
“Today, we are proud to say that our graduates have been found worthy in character and learning to be awarded degrees by the university. I would also like to emphasise that we truly believe in the principle of being worthy in character and learning. I take steps to promote that ideal daily, constantly and consistently,” he said.
Also speaking at the ceremony, the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof Abdullahi Ribadu, represented by the commission’s Deputy Director, Dr Ayoteju Ogun, advised the graduates to distinguish themselves beyond their academic qualifications.
He encouraged them to create opportunities for themselves and allow integrity and excellence to guide them to success.

Ribadu said, “Your degree is an important achievement. Its enduring value will depend on what you do with the knowledge and opportunities it provides. Use your education to solve problems, create opportunities, build solutions, and improve lives.
“The world you are entering will demand more than certificates. It will demand competence, creativity, integrity, and resilience. Therefore, remain curious, keep learning, embrace change, and equip yourself for emerging opportunities.”
In their valedictory speeches, the university’s two overall best graduates, Osemen Esezonor of Computer Science and Osayuware Osazuwa of International Relations, urged their fellow graduates and other students to embrace diligence.
The university graduated 79 first-class, 147 second-class upper, 54 second-class lower, four third-class and 39 unclassified graduates in the 2025/2026 academic session.
