WATCH: Bodycam shows marina shootout with sailboat pirate in wealthy seaside resort town
Tense moments were caught on camera during a deadly shootout between police officers and a suspected boat thief in Newport, Rhode Island.
The Newport Police Department on Friday released video from the incident that happened in August.
During that incident on Aug. 26, officers received a call about a stolen sailboat in Newport Harbor. The suspect opened fire seconds after they arrived, police said.
Officers returned fire, and one of them was heard numerous times on his own bodycam recording saying he had been hit shot in the leg.
