Casey's continues its pizza push that is focused on smaller cities

Casey's General Stores (CASY) is continuing its pizza push with plans to add the convenience store chain's first-ever pan pizza to its menu as a permanent item beginning on October 28.
The company highlighted that the new pan pizza features a hearty, thick, and fluffy golden-brown square crust made with olive oil, honey, sea salt, and finely milled double-zero flour. The specially formulated dough was noted to give the crust structure to hold up generous toppings while maintaining a soft and fluffy inside and crispy bottom.
Casey's (CASY) move to add fresh-baked pizza to the menu has worked better than expected. Pizza has boosted revenue, and its profit margins are higher than what the company made on fuel. Unlike most convenience stores, Casey's (CASY) makes its dough from scratch and bakes pizzas in ovens at each store. Notably, Casey's (CASY) convenience stores are often located in small towns that have no national pizza chain close by.
As Casey's (CASY) grew to almost 3K stores, its pizza business grew with it. Earlier this year, BofA ranked Casey's (CASY) as the fifth-largest pizza chain in the U.S., based on its prepared food and dispensed beverage sales, and the company has confirmed that ranking.
Shares of Casey's (CASY) were up 3.6% in premarket trading on Monday.
