After finding some relief with Jayanti 2, the Marathi film industry suffered another major blow with the failure of Bandkhor. Yes, the latest Mahesh Manjrekar directorial has failed to make any impact at the Indian box office and shockingly, concluded its theatrical run within a week. With Drishyam 3 marking its grand arrival tomorrow (October 2), it’s the end of the story for the film with an embarrassing total. Keep reading for a detailed closing collection report!
The Marathi drama was theatrically released on September 24. It opened to decent reviews from critics, but due to a lack of awareness about its release and ‘A’ certification, the film failed to garner eyeballs. The film had its merits, but it failed to spark any discussion on social media or even at the ground level. As a result, it took an exit without leaving any trace.
How much did Bandkhor earn at the Indian box office?
Bandkhor, released amid negligible pre-release buzz, opened at a dismal 4 lakh. Further, it failed to gain momentum and continued to post poor numbers. Eventually, it wrapped up its run by scoring just 31 lakh net at the Indian box office, which equals 37 lakh gross. It’s a shocking number, considering the name Mahesh Manjrekar is attached as director.
