‘Imperfect Women’ Renewed for Second Season at Apple TV

Translate

Add another show to the ranks of no longer limited series: Apple TV‘s Imperfect Women.

The streamer has ordered a second season of the drama, with Kerry Washington set to reprise her role as Eleanor. Justin Hillian (The Chi, Snowfall) is also joining the series, based on a novel by Araminta Hall, as co-showrunner with series creator and season one showrunner Annie Weisman.

The renewal for Imperfect Women comes about five months after the first season concluded. The show was initially positioned as a limited series, with Elisabeth Moss and Kate Mara starring alongside Washington. Moss, whose Love & Squalor Pictures optioned the novel, won’t reprise her on-screen role but remains an executive producer.

“We were thrilled to see how deeply these women and their stories resonated with audiences around the world, and I’m so excited to step back into Eleanor’s shoes,” Washington said in a statement. “She’s intelligent and strong, but she also finds herself navigating complicated and sometimes messy situations. We at Simpson Street along with our incredible partners at Apple and Love & Squalor Pictures can’t wait to explore a fresh chapter for her and share where this story takes us next.”

Season two will follow Eleanor as she returns to her roots in the affluent Black enclave of Martha’s Vineyard, where long-held secrets “threaten to upend everything she thought she knew about her past,” according to the show’s logline.

“After a wildly entertaining first season, driven by the performances of Kerry, Lizzie and Kate, we jumped at the opportunity to expand the world of Imperfect Women through Kerry’s fan favorite character of Eleanor,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV. “Annie and Justin’s thrilling new story felt like an exciting and natural next chapter. We can’t wait for fans to experience it.”

20th Television and Apple Studios co-produce Imperfect Women. Weisman and Hillian will executive produce season two with Washington and Pilar Savone of Simpson Street, Moss and Lindsey McManus of Love & Squalor Pictures, and Hall.
