The Celebrity Traitors shocks viewers as fan favourite is murdered in emotional scenes

Spoilers follow for the Friday (23 October) episode of The Celebrity Traitors.

The Celebrity Traitors has caused quite the stir with the result of the latest murder. Tonight's (23 October) episode opened with one of the biggest fan favourites of the series being unceremoniously axed from the game.

After Maya Jama, King Kenny and James Acaster last night narrowed down their next kill to Miranda Hart, Sebastian "Bash" Croft and Romesh Ranganathan, tonight it was revealed that Miranda was their pick.

Miranda reacted hilariously to her own demise, saying: "Oh, bottoms," before comedically reading her fateful piece of parchment and throwing it over her shoulder.

Reflecting on the fact she accused Joanne McNally at last night's Round Table, she said: "I'm so cross with myself... I was wholly focussing on my Joanne issue."

Growing emotional, she went on: "Ultimately, in my little personal story this has been quite extraordinary that I've been able to get back and do the thing that I love professionally and do the things that I love personally. Like wondering around a Scottish island and being in nature and laughing and connecting.

"There were times that I didn't think that would be possible again."

Reacting on X, one fan said: "MIRANDA GONE END THE SHOW." Another posted: "Am I the only one crying that Miranda is out??? I feel like a piece of my heart has been taken. We have only just got her back on our screen!! This really hurt... Miranda we love you."

A third posted: "Nope I'm done absolutely fuming ! My poor galloping queen. R.I.P Miranda."

"miranda being murdered has me FLABBERGASTED," said another, while someone else said bluntly: "Oh f**k off!!! Really? Miranda? I’m angry."

Miranda had spoken openly in the series about her recent health issues, which have included being diagnosed with Lyme disease, and later with Myalgic encephalomyelitis, or chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS).

Fans were so won over by her appearance on the show that calls for her sitcom to return have been sparked.

The Celebrity Traitors is available to watch on BBC One and iPlayer.
