’ They were first photographed together in February 2020 in New Orleans, sparking dating speculation. The two got engaged while on a video call during the COVID-19 restrictions, after which Cage and Shibata tied the knot on February 16, 2021, in Las Vegas. While talking to Flaunt Magazine in an October 2021 interview, the actor revealed that the two had been introduced to each other through mutual friends. The two had then been spotted in public for the first time in February 2020 when they both visited Cage’s nine-foot tomb in New Orleans that he purchased for himself in 2010.

We were really happy together, and we were really excited to spend that time together, so I finally just said, ‘Look, I want to marry you,’ and we got engaged on FaceTime.

” Not only that, but the actor also revealed in the same interview that he mailed Shibata the engagement ring at the time, custom-made from black diamond.

It was not long before the two officially tied the knot on February 16, 2021, in Las Vegas. In July 2021, the two made their first red carpet debut as a married couple for Cage’s film, 'Pig.' They also welcomed a daughter named August Francesca Coppola Cage on September 7, 2022. Their representative at the time had shared a statement with PEOPLE that read, “Nicolas and Riko are happy to announce the birth of their daughter.
