The Violent Hour, featuring the wife-husband duo of Carla Harvey (Lords of Acid, ex-Butcher Babies) and Charlie Benante (Anthrax, Pantera), have announced their debut studio album, titled Pretty Girls Do Ugly Things and due out January 22nd.

The Violent Hour has released “Already Dead” as the lead single from the upcoming album alongside a music video for the track.

“Already Dead” balances a thrash metal tonality with a bouncy rock feel, swinging more like a Southern rock track than a traditional heavy metal song. Harvey’s vocal is clean and anthemic, playing up a sense of pop fun.

Harvey said of the single, “‘Already Dead’ is about reaching a point where someone has put you through so much that they can’t hurt you anymore. There’s nothing left for them to take, and that can become its own kind of power.”

She added of the album, “‘Pretty Girls Do Ugly Things’ isn’t just about girl power women behaving badly. It’s almost the thesis for the whole record: good people can do ugly things, beautiful things can come from ugly places, and sometimes you have to get a little ugly to survive.”

While Benante writes and records the music with Harvey, he is not part of the touring lineup. Instead, Harvey is backed by an all-female band.

Previously, The Violent Hour released a self-titled EP containing five songs, four of which will be included on the album.
