Manchester United (MUFC) and Michael Carrick are under massive pressure from all fronts. Having won only one game this season in the Premier League, they are languishing in 16th place.
The Red Devils got comfortably beaten by Bournemouth 3-0 on Sunday, where its captain Bruno Fernandes was left as an unused substitute after his criticism of the team’s tactics and manager in the week leading up to the match.
When Carrick was asked about Fernandes in the pre-match press conference, before the game against Chelsea on Saturday, he said, “Bruno is fully committed to this football club. I’ve got no issues with that, we move forward. We’re looking forward to the game at the weekend now.
Carrick’s team has only won two out of 12 games in all competitions, leading to the club’s worst start in 40 years. This has left his future as head coach under a cloud of doubt. However, he says he needs “no assurances” from the club hierarchy.

The former England and MUFC midfielder told the reporters, when asked whether he was surprised to still be in the job, “I’m here to do my job. I’m here to do the best for the team. I’m desperate to make things better and improve things. I’m not surprised, no.”
“I don’t need assurances from anyone. I totally get the position, I get the job, the responsibility, I get what comes with that,” he continued.
After the game against Bournemouth, the fans showed who they were blaming for the performances of late, as they applauded the manager while booing the players as they walked towards the tunnel in the corner of Old Trafford.
“I genuinely don’t take any notice of anything else. I know this job, and I know what we need to be better. I don’t need anyone else to tell me...I’ve said it before, I care about what the supporters think...I care about what we give them and what they see,” Carrick said.
“The boys are hungry. We’re hurting because we haven’t won enough football games. But there is an intensity, an edge, a hunger to do better,” the Man United head coach added about his players.
