Coronation Street adds nostalgic 2005 throwback to special Halloween episode

Coronation Street added a nostalgic throwback in last night's episode that you may have missed. The Halloween episode saw Sally Metcalfe get a huge fright with an intruder breaking in.
However, before her scary ordeal, there was a neat Easter egg with Joanie and Lucy's costumes referencing way back to 2005.
Before they headed out for The Rovers' Halloween party, the pair were seen dressed as goths wearing tops emblazoned with "pure evil" and "drama queen".

These were actually the same T-shirts worn by Sally's daughter Rosie and her then-boyfriend Craig 21 years ago amid their goth phase, which Sally referenced in the new scene.
"I remember that T-shirt – Rosie's boyfriend bought her that," she remarked.
Joanie actor Savanna Pennington posted about the costumes on her Instagram page, sharing pictures with co-star Anya Dewin (Lucy) and writing: "Tonight’s ep."
As mentioned, things took a terrifying turn for Sally later on in the episode when she stayed at home with an unwell Shanice. After seeing a ghostly figure standing outside, she heard a knock at the door before the intruder broke through the window.

After more scary happenings, including silenced phone calls, the street was plunged into darkness, and the intruder appeared again behind her. After smashing a vase over their head, it was revealed that the mystery figure was actually Lucy playing a prank.
"It was a joke. It's Halloween! I'm not living with her. She could've killed me!" a bloodied Lucy later declared after Tim rushed home. "You're just like her. You're just like my mum!"
The panic came amid fears from Joanie that her dad could've escaped from prison after a riot there, as Tim tried to reassure her that they would've been contacted if that was the case.
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
