45 goals scored in AFCON 2027 Qualifiers: Nigeria and Ghana embarrassed

Tuesday’s Afcon 2027 qualifiers delivered convincing victories, high scoring encounters and several competitive draws across the continent.

Egypt, Mozambique, The Gambia, Guinea Bissau and Rwanda were among the teams to record important victories, while Algeria, Cameroon and Tanzania were held to draws.

BIG RESULTS ACROSS AFRICA

The biggest victory of the day came in South Sudan, where Egypt produced an emphatic 5-0 win. The result gave the Pharaohs a significant boost as they continue their qualifying campaign and was one of the standout performances of the round.

Mozambique also impressed with a 4-1 victory over Sudan, while The Gambia produced one of the most entertaining results by defeating Ghana 4-2. Guinea Bissau added another strong result with a 3-0 victory over Nigeria.

Morocco continued their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Lesotho, while Côte d’Ivoire defeated Somalia by the same scoreline. Zambia also claimed a 2-0 win against Togo, with Gabon recording another 2-0 victory over Niger.

Rwanda secured an important 2-1 away victory against Cape Verde, while Benin came from behind to defeat Mauritania 2-1. Senegal edged Ethiopia 1-0, while Mali also secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Liberia.

The round also produced four draws. Burundi and Algeria shared four goals in a 2-2 draw, while Madagascar and Tanzania played to a 1-1 stalemate. Congo and Cameroon also finished 1-1, giving both teams a point.

With 45 goals scored in 17 matches, Matchday 2 provided plenty of entertainment as the race for places at AFCON 2027 continues.

Matchday two continues on Wednesday night, including Eritrea vs South Africa in Cairo.
