‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County’ Lands Premiere Date On Hulu

Hulu’s expansion of the Mormon Wives universe has been dated.

The streamer will launch The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County on November 12.

The spinoff of the controversial reality series features Jen Affleck from the original as well as podcaster Bobbi Althoff and McCall DaPron, sister of Mayci Neeley, one of the original stars. Others include Ashleigh Pease, Aspyn Ovard, Avery Woods, Jordan McClanahan, Madison Bontempo and Salomé Andrea.

It comes at a difficult time for the franchise as the women from the original series are feuding, largely over whether Taylor Frankie Paul, who was set to headline The Bachelorette before it was pulled after a video of a domestic assault incident emerged.

Paul herself recently revealed that she doesn’t want to continue on the show, which has been picked up for an additional 20 episodes, ostensibly seasons six and seven.

Earlier this month, cast member Mikayla Matthews said that she “will not be continuing the show at this moment” with a series of social media posts that seemed to imply it was because of Paul’s return.

Cast members Mayci Neeley and Layla Taylor also seemed to support Matthews. “I am finishing this current season that we are filming and then not sure for after that,” Neeley posted to TikTok.

Hulu will be hoping that the Orange County spinoff can give the franchise a shot in the arm

Producer Jeff Jenkins told Deadline that it was planning for spinoffs.

“Mormons are fascinating. It’s a fascinating subculture. Because we’re talking about docuseries, we’re not talking about format, what’s going to lead the way? The shining star, the guiding light is going to be the personalities,” he said.

The series is produced by Jeff Jenkins Productions, in association with 3BMG and Walt Disney Television Alternative. Jenkins exec produces alongside Russell Jay-Staglik, Amanda Weinstein, Melissa Bidwell and Brandon Beck at Jeff Jenkins Productions, Ross Weintraub and Reinout Oerlemans at 3BMG and Georgia Berger, Lisa Filipelli and Danielle Pistotnik at Select Entertainment.
