KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 — Tenaga Nasional Berhad has fully restored electricity supply within 77 minutes after a fire broke out at the Kangkar Tebrau Main Intake Substation in Johor yesterday.

The fire, which occurred at 6.03pm yesterday, disrupted supply in several areas around Johor Bahru, including Bandar Dato Onn, Taman Daya, Kempas, Bandar Ulu Tiram, Desa Tebrau and Johor Jaya.

TNB said in a statement that it mobilised technical teams to restore supply in stages, achieving full restoration across all affected areas within 77 minutes.

Two TNB technical personnel who were at the site during the incident sustained injuries.

Both are receiving further medical treatment at Sultan Ismail Hospital in Johor Bahru and are reported to be in stable condition.

TNB said the families of both injured personnel have been informed and are currently with them.

The cause of the incident remains under detailed investigation by TNB’s technical team in collaboration with the relevant authorities, including the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia.

TNB said it would provide its full cooperation to ensure a thorough investigation is carried out.

The utility company apologised for any inconvenience caused by the supply disruption and expressed appreciation to affected customers for their patience and cooperation during the restoration process.

Customers seeking further information can contact TNB CareLine at 15454.
