ARAU, Oct 16 — The Perlis Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has recovered RM698,255.55 through forfeitures from 2024 to date.

Perlis MACC director Mohd Nor Adha Ab Gani said the state anti-graft agency opened 65 investigation papers (IPs), recorded 84 arrests and brought 37 charges to court during the period.

“According to the annual breakdown, 20 IPs were opened in 2024 involving 27 arrests and 13 charges, with a forfeiture value of RM323,872.55. In 2025, 22 investigation papers were opened, 34 arrests were recorded, and 16 charges were brought to court, with a forfeiture value of RM374,168.

“As for 2026, Perlis MACC opened 23 investigation papers, recorded 23 arrests, and brought eight charges to court, with a forfeiture value of RM215,” he was quoted as saying in a statement issued by Istana Arau today.

The statement said the outgoing director presented the figures to the Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail during a recent farewell ceremony at Istana Arau.

Mohd Nor Adha said Perlis MACC also focused on preventive measures, submitting 61 Governance Improvement Recommendations to federal and state departments and statutory bodies.

“These efforts aim to strengthen the public service delivery system, enhance organisational integrity, and close gaps and opportunities for corruption to occur,” he said.

He said Perlis MACC personnel had also received several accolades in recognition of their commitment and performance, including the Chief Commissioner Special Award for 2024 and 2025.

“Perlis MACC also won the Best KPI Management Award 2025 with an evaluation score of 97.45 per cent, besides securing third place for the Best Financial Management Award 2025.

“These achievements demonstrate the dedication of Perlis MACC in balancing enforcement action with continuous preventive measures to foster an administrative environment of integrity, transparency, and accountability,” he said.

At the farewell ceremony, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra thanked Mohd Nor Adha for his service and commitment in leading Perlis MACC for two years and seven months, from March 1, 2024, until tomorrow.

His Royal Highness also congratulated him on his promotion and appointment as Terengganu MACC director, effective October 18.

The Raja Muda expressed hope that the experience Mohd Nor Adha gained in Perlis would help him in his new role and in continuing efforts to strengthen integrity, governance and anti-corruption initiatives. — Bernama
