Minister urges labor unions to oversee new manpower law

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Manpower Minister Yassierli urged all labor union elements to jointly oversee the implementation of the Manpower Protection Law.

In a statement in Jakarta on Monday, Yassierli said collaboration is expected to strengthen worker protection and support a fair, inclusive, productive, and competitive manpower ecosystem.

"For the next stage, I invite all labor union elements to jointly oversee the implementation of this latest Manpower Law in the field," Yassierli said.

He appreciated the active role of labor unions during the lawmaking process, expressing hope that collaboration between the government and unions will continue as implementation moves forward.

"The government appreciates the active contribution of labor union colleagues in overseeing the birth of this new law," Yassierli said.

The House of Representatives (DPR) passed the Manpower Protection Law during a plenary session on Oct. 6, 2026.

The law's drafting followed Constitutional Court (MK) Decision No. 168/PUU-XXI/2023 regarding the judicial review of the manpower cluster, originating as a DPR initiative.

Yassierli said building a fair, inclusive, productive, and sustainable manpower ecosystem remains a major task requiring broad collaboration across sectors.

He emphasized that synergy among government authorities, workers, and employers is essential to address manpower challenges and enhance national competitiveness.

"We have a big duty to build an inclusive, productive, and sustainable manpower ecosystem. I am sure that with the spirit of collaboration and the Red and White spirit, we can achieve this together," he said.

The ministry expressed hope that harmonious, dynamic, and fair industrial relations will be sustained through continuous dialogue among the government, labor unions, and business owners.

"This synergy is expected to support worker protection while driving national economic progress," Yassierli said.
