Nicole Taylor, who had a viral hit with “Country Money” as part of the identical-triplets group Taylor Red, has died. She was 35.

Her sisters Natalie and Niki Taylor announced Tuesday she died September 28 of breast cancer. ““We are shocked and heartbroken to announce the passing of our sister Nicole Taylor,” Natalie said in a video posted to YouTube (watch it below). “This isn’t the video we thought we’d ever be making.”

Formed as Red Roots in 2011, the group broke out on TikTok in 2021 with their song “Country Money.” The catchy track became popular on Spotify and helped lead Taylor Red to amass more than 7 million followers on social media.

The sisters were born March 18, 1991, in Wade, Mississippi, and eventually moved to Nashville to pursue a music career. Nicole co-sang lead and played guitar, violin and banjo on the group’s eponymous 2011 debut album, 2012’s The Middle of Nowhere and 2014’s Triplicity, which earned a Dove Award nomination for Country Album of the Year.

The band changed its name to Taylor Red in 2018. Per a bio, the sisters wrote hundreds of songs together and performed more than 1,000 concerts around North America and in Norway. They have opened for such big-name country acts as Amy Grant, Charlie Daniels and Diamond Rio.

“We’re still processing everything,” Natalie Taylor said in the video announcing her sister’s death. “This honestly feels really hard to talk about, but we’re going to do our best in sharing some of her story.”
