Indonesia's US$10.2 billion industrial projects win praise from China

Indonesia’s commitment to protecting foreign investments and expanding Chinese investment has won praise from Beijing following the inauguration of US$10.2 billion in industrial projects in Central Halmahera on Oct. 8.
"We are confident that the Indonesian government will continue to protect Chinese companies’ legitimate rights and interests and provide an open, fair, transparent, and friendly business environment," Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning stated on Tuesday (Oct. 13).
She noted that China and Indonesia have deepened mutually beneficial cooperation in energy, mining, and other sectors over the years by leveraging their respective strengths, bringing tangible benefits to the peoples of both countries.
"The success of Chinese companies in Indonesia is Indonesia’s success too," she emphasized.
Mao said that China will work with Indonesia to follow through the strategic common understanding of President Prabowo and President Xi Jinping and continue to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in relevant fields.
She is confident that strengthening cooperation with China will help Indonesia in transforming its resource advantages into momentum for development and contribute to Indonesia's prosperity.
During the inauguration ceremony at the Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP), President Prabowo praised foreign investors and partners for placing their trust in Indonesia and exploring the potential of various regions that have yet to be fully developed. He described them as “brothers” of the Indonesian nation.
Citing a report by Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani, Prabowo said investments in the IWIP complex had reached US$20 billion, with future projects expected to bring in an additional US$7 billion.
The development has also created job opportunities for more than 100,000 people, he added.
Four major operations officially entered the commercial phase during the event: Blue Sparking Energy, REPTBattero Indonesia, Pioneer Aluminium Industries, and XCMG Indonesia Manufacturing. Prabowo also officiated the groundbreaking ceremonies for seven planned industrial facilities: Guangqing Nickel Cobalt, Eno Prima Material, Tinci Materials Indonesia, Weda Bay Aluminium, Bintang Karya Aluminium, Flat Solar Energy Indonesia, and Guangqing Motor Indonesia.
