Coronation Street's Ross makes ominous new threat against Marco

Coronation Street revealed another sinister plan from Ross Wilkes tonight, as he set his sights on Marco Rhodes. The prison guard issued an ominous threat against the inmate, leaving Gary Windass fearing the worst.

After discovering Gary had been put behind bars, Ross spotted an opportunity to gain favour on the street, particularly with his daughter-in-law Fiz Dobbs. The villain appeared to be looking out for Gary by getting rid of his troublesome cellmate.

Ross then showed his dark side, making it clear that Gary owed him one while inside. He also used his authority to bully Gary's nervous new cellmate Marco.

In tonight's episode, Gary advised Marco not to shy away in front of the others, and encouraged him to a play a game of pool. When another prisoner tried to intimidate him, Marco used his humour to defuse the tension.

After showing off his pool skills, Marco seemed to gain confidence, as well as the respect of the others. But Ross was annoyed at his cocky attitude and turned down his invite to play a game.

"[I'll be] straight home for a big lamb roast, sticky toffee pudding, binge a bit more of the boxset and then a very early night with my very hot bird," Ross bragged about his evening.

Later, Gary tried to smooth things over with Ross by apologising for Marco. He assured Ross that his cellmate was just trying to get settled behind bars and stay out of trouble.

Ross claimed he wasn't bothered by the comments, but warned Gary that Marco would need to "grow a pair" to survive in prison. He agreed that Gary could handle himself and said that Marco needs to do the same.

"Odds-on, you know, he'll have the chance sooner than he thinks," Ross smiled.

Gary was left shocked by Ross' ominous prediction. But what is the reason for his latest vendetta?

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
