No hate for Lacson amid ‘witch hunt’ vs Taguig projects – Cayetano

MANILA, Philippines — Senate minority leader Alan Peter Cayetano said he holds no grudges against Sen. Panfilo Lacson as the latter, in Cayetano’s words, supposedly subjects Taguig City to a “demolition job, witch hunt and trial by publicity.”

Cayetano, in a Facebook livestream on Wednesday, talked about the improvement projects in Taguig in the last 15 years.

Some of these constructions are being scrutinized and investigated by Lacson who said that Cayetano funded “ghost” deals.

“Yes, I am openly saying that Senator Panfilo Lacson is carrying out a demolition job, a trial by publicity, and a witch hunt in Taguig City,” Cayetano began. “I have  no problem being accused. I am a public official.”

He continued: “But he is linking all the projects to Taguig and to me, all the titles there. It’s not only unfair, but it’s just plain wrong. If he can’t convince people, he will try to confuse people.”

Cayetano insisted that he is not upset with Lacson, urging his supporters to instead “hate the sin, but love the sinner.”

“I have no anger. No hatred towards Senator Lacson,” he expressed.

Cayetano then promised to “give clarity” to Lacson’s reports against the Taguig projects.

He is also encouraging the public to visit the parks, public areas and flood control infrastructure in his turf that have supposedly developed in the past decade and a half.

In Cayetano and Lacson’s most recent dispute, Lacson said that there are at least P3.7 billion in public funds that may have been “wasted” in projects in the reclamation areas of Taguig City.

Cayetano, in response, told Lacson to let investigative offices probe into the Taguig projects.

Lacson, on the other hand, said he had turned over to the Office of the Ombudsman his office’s findings on the Taguig City infrastructure projects. /apl
