Manchester United injury update: Benjamin Sesko, Patrick Dorgu, Noussair Mazraoui latest news and return dates

Translate

Manchester United were denied a return to winning ways late on as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Tottenham at the weekend.

Bryan Mbeumo thought he had struck the winner at Old Trafford, but Dominic Solanke stole a point for Spurs.

Marcus Rashford made a late appearance off the bench, but Michael Carrick’s hesitance to use the forward despite chasing a goal could prove telling, especially after the England international withdrew from Nations League duty.

Kobbie Mainoo, who did similar, played the full 90 minutes, and was joined by debutant Carlos Baleba, who replaced Youri Tielemans in Carrick’s first wave of changes.

Amad Diallo made his first appearance of the campaign after recovering from an ankle injury he suffered in pre-season, but he was muted on his return to action.

Patrick Dorgu

Dorgu is one of the biggest worries for Carrick at present with United now down to just one senior left-back, Luke Shaw.

The Dane started for his country against Wales in the Nations League, but was hauled off with 30 minutes on the clock.

Speaking ahead of the Spurs game, Carrick said of the versatile winger: “It looks like he'll be out for a number of weeks.”

Potential return date: November

Benjamin Sesko

Sesko has suffered a fresh flare-up of the shin injury which saw him miss the last few games of his debut season at United.

He had seemed to be back at full fitness after starting against Sabah, but was left out of the squad entirely for the trip to Fulham.

After the Fulham game, Carrick said of his No30: “It was a pain in his shin. We’re not sure with him yet. He felt a bit of pain after the game. We’re assessing him. He definitely wasn’t ready for today.”

There is no timeframe on a return for the striker yet.

Noussair Mazraoui

Mazraoui returned from international duty with Morocco with a knock, Carrick revealed.

Explaining the full-back’s issue, he said: “Nouss came off and took a knock. He's not quite right, so we'll see how he is.”

He did not feature against Spurs, but there is hope that he can play at Atletico Madrid this week.

Potential return date: October 13 vs Atletico Madrid (A)

Matthijs de Ligt

De Ligt is almost at a full year on the sidelines with a back injury he suffered against Crystal Palace in November last year.

He underwent surgery in May, and he played in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Lausanne during the international break.

There will be hope that he can make a full comeback soon, despite not being named in the squad against Spurs.

Manuel Ugarte

Ugarte continues to recover from an ACL tear he suffered representing Uruguay at the World Cup.
