KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 8 — The Klang Valley is set to light up with the spirit of Deepavali this year, as major shopping malls and local councils roll out numerous public events and celebrations.

From immersive art exhibitions to traditional dance performances, these events promise a rich display of heritage, creativity, and community togetherness to usher in the festival of lights.

At MyTown Shopping Centre in Cheras, the “Spectacle of Lights,” inspired by the majestic peacock, takes centre stage.

The mall offers a variety of cultural performances, including Bharatanatyam and traditional drum shows, alongside a rotating schedule of hands-on workshops such as henna art, diya painting, and scented candle making.

Sunway 163 Mall in Mont Kiara is hosting “Colours of Light” from November 3 to 18.

The celebration features traditional music performances, including Veena and Sitar recitals, and workshops ranging from diya painting to festive terracotta pot painting.

Shoppers can also enjoy exclusive redemptions, including a Deepavali lunch box, by meeting the spending requirements.

In Bukit Bintang, Fahrenheit 88 invites visitors to its “Art of Deepavali Exhibition” located on the third floor.

This immersive showcase, running until November 9, explores the craftsmanship behind five core festival symbols, including kolam, oil lamps, and traditional clothing.

Meanwhile, Sunway Wangsa Mall has transformed its main entrance into a photo-worthy spot with a vibrant Kolam.

The mall’s festive schedule includes weekend activities like diya making and henna art, as well as unique fitness sessions featuring Bollywood music.

The celebration culminates with a traditional dhol drum performance on November 8.

Avenue K is hosting the “Colours of Deepavali” event until November 8, offering shoppers complimentary henna art, traditional Indian dance performances, and festive treat giveaways.

Across the group, Suria KLCC, along with Alamanda Shopping Centre and Mesra Mall, is celebrating in regal style.

Through November 11, shoppers can enjoy palace-inspired décor, traditional dance performances, and exclusive shopping rewards, including e-vouchers for those who meet specified spending thresholds.

Beyond the retail landscape, the spirit of Deepavali is also being celebrated through larger community gatherings and state-level events.

The Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) is hosting the Selangor State-Level Deepavali Celebration.

Held under the theme “Light of Unity, Prosperous Selangor,” the event will take place on November 14 at Dataran Klang @ Padang Chetty from 6pm to 11.30pm.

The celebration is set to be attended by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
