Donyell Malen extended his lead at the top of the Serie A top scorer charts with his opening goal in Monday evening’s match between Torino and Roma, and in doing so, became the first player since the legendary Francesco Totti to score six or more goals within the first four league matches of the season.

Three Serie A matches are taking place on Monday evening, including Como vs. Parma and Inter vs. Udinese. You can follow the action from all of them on the Football Italia Liveblog.

Malen has been on an extraordinary goalscoring run since moving to Serie A from Aston Villa during the winter transfer window. He came up with 14 league goals from 18 appearances in the second half of the 2025-26 campaign and has already notched six from four outings in 2026-27.

He began with a hat-trick against Fiorentina on the opening weekend, followed it up with a brace against Lecce the following weekend, and added another before the half-time break in Roma’s away match against Torino.

This goal means that he has become just the third player in Roma history to score six or more goals within the first four matches of a Serie A season. He is the first to do so in over 20 years.

The most recent to do so was Francesco Totti, who netted six goals within the first four games of the 2002-03 season. The only other player to have done so was Pedro Mandredini, who scored seven goals within the first four games of the 1960/61 season.
