Coronation Street star teases Halloween episode plans - with iconic costume

Translate

Coronation Street's Lisa Connor-Swain is used to being serious in her job as a detective sergeant. But that doesn't mean she can't have fun when she's off the clock.

In fact, last Halloween, the fan-favourite character had a hilarious couple's costume with her now-wife Carla, which saw the pair dressed up as a cop (Carla) and a robber (Lisa). Unfortunately, they didn't quite get to enjoy the costume party, thanks to interference from Lisa's ex Becky Swain.

However, with Becky now out of the picture, it seems this year's Halloween episodes will be more treat than trick.

"As far as their relationship's concerned, between Lisa and Carla, and also as a family unit with Ryan, they're in a really good place," Vicky Myers, who plays Lisa, told The Mirror. And I think after last year's shenanigans, this is good, this is fine, you know?"

"Just because it's Halloween, it doesn't have to be chaos and mayhem, it's perfectly fine."

When asked about the couple's costumes for the spooky episodes, Myers teased a "great homage" to an "icon".

"Just wait until you see them! I can't really say too much about it, but I was having a chat with makeup, and I'd already suggested the costume and who Lisa should go as," she said.

"And then this person passed away the week that we were shooting it, and I couldn't believe it, because this person's a bit of an icon. I just love this person. So to do that, it is a great homage to this person.

"I was made up. And I was very grateful to them for letting me sort of scratch that itch."

For Swarla fans, the episodes will hopefully see Lisa and Carla enjoying some quality time together, after another tumultuous year. But Myers also stressed the importance of seeing them having their own lives and careers.

"I think it's really important that we can show these women in their their own way, in their own right," she said, "because I think what's really important is that Lisa came in as this Detective Sergeant.

"We have to go to work. Life is is very different to how it was years ago, and also with Betsy's story, it was really important to be a story of hope, after everything that happened. Because we move, we go on, we continue, we have to. There's no choice. So, I think for that as well, Betsy to have two working mums, that's also massively important."

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
