The Fate of 'American Horror Story' Has Officially Been Decided After 13 Seasons

A cinematic obsessive with the filmic palate of a starving raccoon, Rob London will watch pretty much anything once. With a mind like a steel trap, he's an endless fount of movie and TV trivia, borne from a misspent youth of watching monster movies on TV, perusing the sun-faded goods at the local video rental shop, and staining his fingers with ink from the Video Movie Guide. Areas of interest include science fiction, film noir, horror flicks, '70s disaster pictures, Bond movies, '90s action, giant robots, dinosaurs, super heroes, and the exuberantly schlocky output of Cannon Films. He also enjoys both Star Trek and Star Wars when they're good, and maybe even more when they're bad. As a Canadian, he also has a vested interest in Canadian movies and TV shows, especially the cheesier ones dubbed "Canuxploitation."
An expert on Marvel Comics, he has also written for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, and is a member of the Marvel Research Team. He can frequently be found pontificating on comic-book continuity or bemoaning the misfortunes of the Toronto Maple Leafs on his Twitter account.

13 is proving to be a lucky number for American Horror Story. The seemingly immortal anthology series from the twisted mind of Ryan Murphy has united cast members and characters from across its various incarnations for its all-star season this year, and has been rewarded for it in the ratings department. But will that be enough to stave off the reaper's scythe for another season?
Beginning in 2011 with a season about a haunted house, American Horror Story has become the longest-running series in FX's history. While the series focuses on a new story every season, it frequently features callbacks to previous seasons, and often makes use of Murphy's regular cadre of actors, many of whom are now playing multiple roles in the current season. The series has garnered over 100 Emmy nominations, and has secured wins for stars Kathy Bates, James Cromwell, and Jessica Lange; the latter has been absent from the series since its 10th season in 2018, but is back with a vengeance this year.
American Horror Story isn't over yet. The series has been renewed for a 14th season on FX and Hulu, which is expected to debut next year. The news comes amidst a big ratings win for the series: the season 13 premiere garnered the biggest ratings for not only an American Horror Story premiere, but for any of Ryan Murphy's many projects. It also comes as season 13 has yet to reach its terrifying climax; episodes 11 and 12 will premiere this coming Thursday, October 22, setting up the grand finale to debut next week on the 29th, two days before Halloween.
American Horror Story will return for season 14 next year. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
