Mutilated corpse of woman found in Jos wildlife forest reserve

The mutilated corpse of a woman has been found near a stream inside the Wildlife Park Forest Reserve in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The discovery was made on Thursday morning.

Security sources said the body was found with suspected machete cuts on her face and arm.

The discovery was reported to security operatives at about 9:30 a.m., prompting their deployment to the forest reserve.

A staff member of the park, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to comment on the incident, said workers alerted security operatives after discovering the body.

“We woke up and discovered the body and immediately contacted the security operatives,” the staff member said.

“The security personnel came to the scene and commenced their initial assessment while efforts were made to establish what happened.”

The circumstances surrounding the woman’s death remained unclear as of Thursday afternoon.

Security authorities were said to have commenced an investigation into the incident, including efforts to establish the identity of the deceased and determine how she died.

Efforts to reach the security authorities for official confirmation were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
