Adam Driver Jokingly Shares Parenting Rule: "I’m Not Giving Him S--t"

Adam Driver’s life in Hollywood has awoken a new parenting technique.
The Oscar nominee revealed that he and wife Joanne Tucker are careful with how they’re raising their son and daughter, especially because their kids already “have more growing up” than they had.
“I don't want to get too caught in the, ‘You don't realize what you have,’” Driver exclusively shared with E! News in a joint interview with Paper Tiger costar Scarlett Johansson, “because that's kind of wasted energy. It is what it is—[they] have more privilege than I had.”
While the 42-year-old noted that overall “that's a good thing,” he also feared it “could also be a trap where things are taken for granted”—especially when he thought about his son.
“I try to make sure that he understands where everything comes from and that he has to work for it to get it,” Driver said, quipping, “and I'm not giving him s--t.”
For now, the biggest lesson the Star Wars actor hoped to impart on his son was to always “make sure that he has manners.”
“Manners is a big thing in our house. It's kind of a baseline thing that is very massive,” he shared. “I think it's very important. You have to have respect with every people, no matter where they are.”
And while his 3-year-old daughter is still figuring out how to mind her p’s and q’s, his son is already “very good” with them.

Wanting better for your children is also a subject he and Johansson touch on in Paper Tiger, which follows the story of two brothers played by Driver and Miles Teller who attempt to pursue lucrative business opportunities only to find themselves entangled with the Russian mafia.
The film also served as a reunion for Driver and Johansson after playing husband and wife in 2019’s Marriage Story. And Johansson was thrilled to work alongside Driver again.
“We like to be on the set hanging out and working together,” she shared with E! News. “When you have somebody that you love their work, you love the act of working with them, you love to watch them work, you're excited to see what they're gonna do with something.”
Paper Tiger hits select theaters Nov. 13 before releasing in theaters nationwide Nov. 20.
