Najib makes first public appearance since conditional pardon [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Razak appeared in public today for the first time since he was granted a conditional pardon allowing him to serve the remainder of his SRC International sentence under house arrest.

The former prime minister, who remains incarcerated at Kajang Prison, was brought to the High Court this morning before judge Noor Ruwena Md Nurdin.

Dressed in a light grey suit and white shirt, Najib arrived at 8.30am under tight security, accompanied by Prisons Department officers, some wearing black tactical gear.

His appearance was the first public sighting of the 73-year-old since the Federal Territories Pardons Board's decision was announced on Sept 18.

The decision allows Najib to serve the remainder of his SRC International prison sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028, subject to stipulated conditions.

For now, however, Najib remains an inmate at Kajang Prison.

His transfer to house arrest has yet to take place as the conditions attached to the pardon, including payment of a RM50 million fine, have yet to be fulfilled.
