Oriental Mindoro town tightens biosecurity against ASF
CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — The southernmost municipality of Bulalacao in Oriental Mindoro is strengthening border monitoring and biosecurity defenses to protect and maintain its African Swine Fever (ASF)-free status after Occidental Mindoro had its first ASF case last week.
The move aligns with the Oriental Mindoro provincial government’s broader preventive action, which includes establishing Animal Quarantine Checkpoints (AQC) at strategic boundary points — including the entry at Sitio Cambayang, Barangay Cabugao in Bulalacao, which links to Magsaysay town in Occidental Mindoro.
Local authorities are intensifying inspections at all entry points, screening persons, livestock shipments, and meat products entering the town to block unauthorized or undocumented meat that could carry the virus.

The municipal government is working closely with residents, transport operators, and swine raisers to enforce strict biosecurity protocols and ensure no contaminated supplies reach local farms.
