Toronto Producers Ron & Aussie And Launch North Strike 3-Film Deal; First Movie To Star Lovell Adams-Gray, Kiana Madeira, More

EXCLUSIVE: Ron & Aussie Productions (Morningside) has signed a three-picture deal with Toronto-based Launch North, the Canadian arm of Los Angeles-based media company The Launch Company (Kristallnacht).

Launch North will co-produce all three features alongside Ron & Aussie, the company founded by filmmakers Ron Dias and Joanne Jansen.

The deal follows the 2025 indie movie Morningside, directed by Dias and written and produced by Dias and Jansen, which was released theatrically in Canada.

The first film under the new deal is due to begin production this fall in Toronto with attached cast Lovell Adams-Gray (Power Book II: Ghost), Kiana Madeira (Fear Street), Joanne Jansen (Morningside) and Orville Cummings (Star Trek: Discovery). All three films will be directed by Dias and written by Jansen and Dias.

“This deal gives us the opportunity to keep building the kind of films we want to make while creating a clear path from development through production and eventually to audiences. We are excited to begin with our first film this fall and to reveal the full slate at TIFF,” said Ron Dias.

The remaining titles and additional details from the slate are due to be announced on September 11, 2026, during TIFF event Big Day Out, presented by Big Picture. The event brings together filmmakers, actors, creators and other industry professionals for project announcements, talent reveals, live programming and networking during the festival.

“Ron and I wrote these three films for the people we wanted to see on screen, and we get to make them in the city they came out of. That is not a small thing for a Canadian company. I am looking forward to introducing the stories and the people behind them at Big Day Out,” said Joanne Jansen.

“Canada is producing some of the best storytelling anywhere, and too little of it is built to be seen outside the country,” commented Chris K. Daniels, founder of The Launch Company. “That is a structural gap, not a creative one, and it is a solvable one. Launch North brings Los Angeles packaging, capital and market relationships alongside Canadian filmmakers without asking them to leave, change the work, or make it for somewhere else. Ron and Joanne are exactly who that is for.”
