A hit song can be a gift and a curse. Yung Miami notched her first top 20 smash on the Billboard Hot 100 this summer with “Spend Dat,” and she parlayed the momentum garnered from the anthem leading into her debut solo album, Watch Dis, which arrived on Oct. 23 and debuted at No. 138 on the Billboard 200.

Miami recently stopped by Billboard News for an interview with Tetris Kelly, talking all things surrounding the success of “Spend Dat” and her star-studded project, which included feeling the pressure of her first hit.

“Just seeing the success of ‘Spend Dat,’ it gave me anxiety; I’m not gonna lie,” she admits. “I was excited, but I was like, ‘Damn, this is big.’ I want this album to just be great, which I feel like it was. It really made me go back and hone in. Make sure that the album was top to bottom the way I needed it to be.”

Miami continues: “Before ‘Spend Dat,’ I had a couple songs, and when I did ‘Spend Dat,’ I was like, ‘Nah, I gotta go back in.’ I think I know what the people want. I think I see the direction. After ‘Spend Dat,’ I did ‘2008,’ ‘F You’ and the Bryson [Tiller] record came after.”

The 32-year-old didn’t hold back on the collaboration side, notching assists from G Herbo, Travis Scott, Bryson Tiller, Quavo, Rick Ross, Summer Walker and more. In the interview, she highlights teaming up with Walker and Bryson as a couple of her favorite moments on the album.

“I know doing this album, I wanted some big features, but Summer Walker, I love Summer Walker. I’m a Summer Walker girl,” she shares. “When it comes to R&B, that’s my No. 1 girl. I love every album she ever put out.”

Miami then gushes about Bryson: “Always been a fan of his; I love his music. I love the way he communicates to women. I just love his voice. I just think there’s something about him that’s just unique.”

As far as a potential City Girls reunion with JT, Miami had a one-word answer: “Inshallah.”
