INGLEWOOD, Calif. -- After the Rams missed a field goal and had another blocked in Monday night's 37-34 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills, coach Sean McVay said Los Angeles will "evaluate everything" about the kicking unit.

Rams kicker Harrison Mevis missed a 50-yard field goal wide left in the first quarter and had a 48-yard field goal attempt blocked in overtime that would have been the game winner.

"In the kicking game, especially with our PAT field goal, not even close to good enough," McVay said after the loss. "It cost us the game tonight."

It was the Rams' third blocked field goal attempt since the start of last season, tied for the most in the NFL, according to ESPN Research. The Rams have had 81 missed or blocked kicks under McVay (since 2017 including playoffs), which is third most in the league.

"I felt like I hit it good," Mevis said. "That's all I can tell you. I mean, I hit it good, gave it a chance. I'll have to look."

On the play before the blocked kick, the Rams faced a third-and-5 from the Buffalo 30. Rams running back Kyren Williams was stopped for no gain on the play. After the game, McVay said he wished he had a better play call on third down.

"I'm sick that we came up short and I'll be regretting kicking that and not having a better call to be able to go for it on third down and go to fourth or whatever it was," McVay said. "And that's on me."

McVay said, "it's been a while since I've been this pissed after a game."

"We go out there and we give the opportunity for our special teams to kind of go out there and get a field goal," Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua said. "We got to be able to execute and if that's not what we wanted to do, we got to find a way to convert on the critical downs."

The Rams fell to 2-3 after the loss and sit in third place in the NFC West behind the 5-0 San Francisco 49ers and 3-2 Seattle Seahawks.
