Nancy: Plans for 2 integrated care centres under review

Translate

PLANS for National Integrated Care Centres (NICE) in Sarawak and Penang remain under discussion, with the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry reviewing implementation requirements ahead of next year's launch.

Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the allocation for the centres, announced in the 2027 Budget, aligned with the government's vision to strengthen the care economy.

"We will hold discussions with both state governments on infrastructure requirements and the arrangements needed."

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the two NICE in Penang and Sarawak to support training, research and elderly care.

Nancy said many care initiatives were run by private entities and non-governmental organisations, necessitating a review before the approach could be finalised.

She said the allocation would support its plans to expand such initiatives nationwide.
