‘Game of Thrones’ Finally Hitting Big Screen in 2029 With Warner Bros.’ ‘Aegon’s Conquest’
Westeros is ready to conquer the big screen.
Warner Bros. announced Tuesday that Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest is set for theatrical release on June 1, 2029. Owen Harris directs the film that has a script from Beau Willimon.
The studio confirmed the title at CinemaCon earlier this year for the feature project that centers on King Aegon I Targaryen’s conquest of Westeros. Castmembers have not yet been revealed.
A Game of Thrones movie has been discussed for more than a decade, with talk dating back to 2013, two years after the series adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire books first premiered on HBO.
HBO has two current Game of Thrones series, with House of the Dragon having aired its third season over the summer, while A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season two is expected next year.
