JOHOR BAHRU, Oct 25 — A seven-year-old boy died Friday evening after allegedly falling from the 10th floor of a flat in Taman Perling here while playing.

Acting Johor Bahru Utara police chief Superintendent Azrol Anuar Nor said the boy sustained severe injuries to his head, arms and body and was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer from Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA).

He said the victim was found lying on the ground below the flat by residents, with police receiving a report on the incident at about 5.30pm.

“Preliminary investigations found that the victim was playing with several other children along the 10th-floor corridor of the flat. He reportedly used a bicycle to climb over the corridor wall before falling,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Azrol Anuar said a post-mortem examination was conducted at 11am yesterday, with an HSA forensic medical officer confirming that the cause of death was injuries sustained from a fall from a height.

He said police had recorded statements from four witnesses to assist in the investigation, which had been classified as a sudden death report (SDR).

He advised the public, particularly parents and guardians, to monitor their children’s movements and activities and ensure they did not climb or play in high-risk areas to prevent similar incidents.

Those with information on the incident may contact the Johor Bahru North District Police Headquarters hotline at 07-556 3122 to assist in the investigation, he added. — Bernama
