Jonvic Remulla: Student in Banga National High School shooting an honor student

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said the teen student behind the fatal school shooting in Banga, South Cotabato, was an honor student who was aspiring to be a doctor.

“He just went into the deep dark web. Naimpluwensiyahan ng insidious group, and then he turned to Satanism and glorification of mass murder…Parang na-groom and na-possess na hindi mawala sa utak niya,” Remulla said.

Remulla said the Department of the Interior and Local Government has identified some organizations in the Philippines allegedly preying on the youth in the deep dark web.

"We will take them down the legal way," Remulla said.

Remulla said authorities have coordinated with the father of the gunman—a relieved DepEd employee who allegedly owns the firearm used in the shooting.

Without going into detail, Remulla said police have apprehended four other minors in Mindanao who were “planning to do school shooting…pero parang yabang lang," Remulla said.

“Ganun ang nangyayari ngayon. They now glorify violence through the deep dark web. ‘Yun ang dapat pigilan," he added. –NB, GMA News
