A Court of Splintered Harmony may be changing someone's fate.
The novels began with A Court of Thorns and Roses written by Sarah J. Maas and published in 2015. Since its release, the series has expanded with multiple novels and is beloved around the world.
TikTok's dedicated community of readers, otherwise known as BookTok, caused a huge flood of new fans for ACOTAR, which is credited for revitalizing the romantasy genre for novels. Maas isn't done just yet and two new novels are being added to the franchise.
In what appears to be a leaked audiobook sample on RB Media Global's website, the new protagonist for ACOTAR book 6 titled A Court of Splintered Harmony has reportedly been revealed. It was a sample of the novel read by Elizabeth Evans and focused on the beloved Night Court member, Azriel.
The excerpt began with what appears to be a detailed description of a secret mission where Azriel was led to a location just from a "simple whisper." The beginning stated:
"The howling, rain lashed wind robbed every lingering ember of warmth from Azriel. The scales of his black armor did nothing against the lethal cold carried within those howls. Neither did his siphons, their blue light unearthly through the downpour slicking every stone in the Monteserrian mountain pass—nor his shadows, barely hanging on to his half frozen wings amid the gusting vales of rain. Five centuries of training kept him focused, though. Allowed him to silence the screaming in his head—the body that demanded he find heat and find it fast."
Azriel was last shown in a crossover book with Maas's other fantasy series, Crescent City, in the novel House of Flame and Shadow. The spymaster is seemingly on a mission and presumably will follow straight from Crescent City's novel, where Azriel represses his feelings for Elain while holding an unspoken bond with Gwyn and reeling from the multiverse mic drop from Bryce Quinlan.
Many fans are still holding out hope that potentially Book 6 could be focused on Elain, but all signs are pointing to Nesta and the Valkyries due to Azriel's own connection to the Valkyries and training them during A Court of Silver Flames alongside Cassian.
At the time of writing, the leaked audiobook sample has seemingly been removed and was clearly not intended for audiences and fans to hear before A Court of Splintered Harmony's release date on October 27.
