Anvay Dravid, younger son of former India cricketer Rahul Dravid, scored 151 off 100 balls to help Karnataka chase down Gujarat’s target of 358 with five wickets to spare in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy Elite tournament.Leading Karnataka in the tournament, the 17-year-old played a key role in the chase, combining with Dhruv Krishnan to guide his team to victory.

Anvay is captaining a 16-member Karnataka squad in the tournament, which began in Visakhapatnam earlier this month. His appointment as captain comes 10 months after he made his India U19 debut against Afghanistan in Sri Lanka in November last year.Anvay had also impressed in Karnataka’s previous match against Delhi, scoring 85 off just 41 balls.

He combined with Rohith Reddy, Nitish Arya and Dhruv Krishnan to help Karnataka post 418 after being asked to bat first.Gujarat, meanwhile, got off to a difficult start after being put in to bat, losing their first wicket at 19 in the seventh over. Shaurya Pancholi and Ved Patel then steadied the innings with a 66-run partnership for the second wicket.Gujarat soon slipped to 100/3, but Kush Patel and Sameer Bhandari added 40 runs for the fourth wicket.

After Kush was dismissed in the 31st over, Sameer and Yash Panjwani put together a 217-run partnership for the fifth wicket to take Gujarat to 357.In reply, Rohith and Nitish added 30 runs for the opening wicket before Nitish was dismissed in the sixth over. Rohith and Krishnan then put on 33 runs for the second wicket, but Rohith departed in the 12th over.Krishnan and Anvay took charge from there, adding 204 runs for the third wicket to bring Karnataka closer to the target.

Krishnan was dismissed in the 38th over, after which Anvay added 61 runs with Aniketh Reddy for the fourth wicket before losing his wicket in the 44th over.Aniketh and Tejas Reddy then completed the chase to seal Karnataka’s five-wicket win.

Aaryavir Sehwag scores 173 off 143 balls

Former India opener Virender Sehwag’s elder son, Aaryavir, also made headlines in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy Elite tournament, scoring 173 off 143 balls for Delhi. However, his effort was not enough to secure a win, as Chandigarh chased down the target to win by five wickets in the 42nd over.Aaryavir, 18, is captaining a 16-member Delhi squad in the tournament, which began in Visakhapatnam on October 8. His appointment as captain came shortly after he made his India U19 debut against Australia in Rajkot in September.Batting first, Delhi finished at 289/6 in 50 overs, with Aaryavir and fellow opener Arnav Bugga, who scored 47, accounting for much of the team’s runs.Chandigarh made light work of the chase, reaching the target in the 42nd over. Rupesh Yadav led the way with 167 off 125 balls, hitting five sixes and 23 boundaries to help Chandigarh register a five-wicket victory.
