MAE HONG SON — 6 October 2026, A flash flood swept away an agricultural building belonging to Mae Sam Laep Subdistrict Administrative Organization in Sop Moei district, Mae Hong Son, after heavy rain triggered a powerful surge through a local creek.

A strong torrent rushed through the Mae Sam Laep creek, eroding its banks and sweeping the agricultural building away in an instant.

The flood also damaged the approach to a bridge in Mae Sam Laep village. Although vehicles can still cross, local authorities have contacted the provincial public works authorities to inspect the structure and assess its safety.

Floodwater has also eroded sections of the banks along the Mae Sam Laep waterway, raising concerns for riverside buildings and homes.

Local authorities warned that further heavy rain and flash floods could cause additional damage and urged residents in vulnerable riverside areas to remain alert.
