WATCH | Unofficial 702 social media reporter Ntathu Zungu takes the mic to the community

Ntathu Zungu has crowned herself the unofficial social media reporter after finding a Radio 702 mic pop filter at an unidentified location.

Zungu is using the filter to ‘interview’ chickens, dogs and cows in different parts of her community, as well as community members, about the ‘inland, impartial and independent news’ concerning them.

Her latest video is of an interview with a stray dog, where she asks it to confirm if the Zulu saying, translated as: ‘a dog will finish its water with a tongue’, is true.

Dressed in a burgundy dress and heels, the ‘reporter’ chases her reluctant interview subject when the dog makes a run for it.

In another video, she asked a community member to ‘point out the homestead with the beer’, as the Zulu saying goes. Thankfully, her subject was willing and able to point Zungu in the direction of the house with the beer.

Zungu was interviewed by Clement Manyathela on the radio station, who wanted to know where the filter was picked up. She, however, challenged 702 to guess the location of her find, which could be either Cape Town, Johannesburg, or KwaZulu-Natal, the three locations she’s based in.

Hopefully it’s only a matter of time before Zungu becomes official, as many of her commenters are hoping.
