Over the years, the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star Johnny Depp has owned quite a lot of eccentric real estate plots. From six private islands in the Bahamas to his own French village in the South of France, he has invested in many places.

However, his 41-acre horse farm holds a special place in his heart. Located in the Lexington area, the actor first purchased the property in 1991. Over the next couple of years, the actor sold the property and then bought it back. Here is a look into one of Depp’s most special real estate properties.

In 1991, Johnny Depp purchased a 41-acre horse farm for the first time

PEOPLE reported that Depp first purchased the Kentucky property for USD 950,000. The actor himself had grown up in Owensboro, Kentucky, and had a special connection to that place.

The property is located on Versailles Road outside Lexington and is named after his mother, Betty Sue Palmer. Depp named his farm ‘Betty Sue's Family Farm,' which featured its own 6,000-square-foot main residence, along with a guest house, horse barns, paddocks, and a private pool.

The property also had its own sun room, 6-to-7 bedrooms, and 6.5 bathrooms.

Johnny Depp sold the property after six years

A few years after acquiring it, Depp put the property on the market and sold it for USD 1 million.

However, in 2005, he bought the property all over again. This time around, he purchased it for his mother so she could have her own home and live comfortably. Betty Sue stayed in the main residence of the 41-acre property until her passing in May 2016. In 2005, he bought the home back for USD 2 million, double the price he had sold it for.Depp changed ownership of the Kentucky property yet again when it came back on the market.

In 2017, a year after his mother’s passing, Depp had the space put up on the market for USD 2.9 million. It was eventually put up for auction in September 2017. At the time, 14 bidders registered for the bidding, though it peaked at only USD 1.4 million. Due to the low amount, Depp pulled the deal back and put the house back on the market.After being on the market for more than three years and not seeing much action, the estate was finally sold off to an undisclosed buyer.

It sold for between USD 1.3 million and USD 1.36 million.

The actor first sold the property for USD 1 million, however, bought it back within 4 years of selling it for double the proce at USD 2 million. (YouTube)

In an interview with The Rolling Stone, the actor candidly shared that he bought the space for his mother to have a quiet and peaceful life. Other than that, he added that the two had quite a mixed relationship; however, the two remained close until her passing in 2016.
