China top Asian Games medal table with 154 golds

KUALA LUMPUR: China continue to lead the medal standings at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, with 154 gold, 71 silver and 63 bronze medals as of 9pm on Thursday.

Hosts Japan are second with 59 gold, 79 silver and 79 bronze medals, while South Korea are third (30-30-53).

Thailand dropped to sixth from fifth but are still the best Southeast Asian performers with 12 gold, 11 silver and 15 bronze medals

Malaysia stay 11th with six gold, five silver and 13 bronze medals.

The national contingent will look to add three more golds to their tally on Friday.

The men's and women's squash teams will contest the final against Pakistan and Hong Kong respectively.

Track cyclist Azizulhasni Awang, who won the men's sprint bronze today, will hunt for gold in his favourite keirin event.
