EC yet to announce Dormaa Central NDC constituency election results

Translate

The Dormaa Central Electoral Commission (EC) in the Bono Region is yet to declare the winners of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) election in the constituency.

This is because instead of 1400 hours, voting ended around 1915hours, with sorting and counting of ballots eaten into the night.

The agents of the candidates contesting for the various constituency executive positions had earlier left the Nana Agyemang Badu I Sports Stadium, the venue of the event, as the EC continued with sorting and counting.

About 1,290 delegates of the party participated in the constituency election, deciding on 55 candidates, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) learnt.

Most of the delegates who had also travelled distances from their respective communities to Dormaa-Ahenkro for the election could also not wait for the outcome of the election.

However, supporters of some of the incumbents turned to the streets of the Dormaa Township jubilating, though the EC had not announced the election results.

They carried Mr George Adu, the incumbent constituency chairman, Mr David Atta Twum, incumbent constituency secretary, Eric Kyeremeh, incumbent Communication officer and Daniel Hinne, the incumbent deputy constituency secretary, shoulder-high and showered powder on them.

Although the election ended peacefully, a misunderstanding which erupted between some supporters of the party and some supporters of Mr John Jack, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Dormaa Central Constituency, nearly marred the beauty of the polls.

The incident happened outside the venue of the polls; however, the timely intervention of the security personnel, who whisked the MP off the scene, saved the situation.
