1XCup 2026: Four Games Hold Today As Battle For Group Stage Spots Intensifies

Translate

The battle for places in the group stage of the 1XCup 2026 grassroots football competition continues today, Thursday, August 27, with four intriguing second-round fixtures scheduled to take place at the Inspire Sports Ground, Cappa, Oshodi, Lagos as teams fight to keep their dreams of winning the trophy alive.

The first match action for today will see Royalty Athletic FC take on Dynamic FC from 11:00 a.m., Ighalo FA will then do battle against Arich FC from 12:30 a.m.,  the third game features Emiloju FC versus Franceex United from 2:00 p.m. while the final encounter of the day scheduled for 3:30 p.m. pitches Goals FC against Vido 99 FC.

The second match for today promises to be a truly fascinating affair with two teams that impressed in the opening round of the competition going head-to-head.

Ighalo FA announced their intentions to go very far in the 1XCup 2026 with an emphatic 5-0 mauling of Panthers FA, displaying attacking quality and organisation.

Arich FC, meanwhile, showed tremendous character in their opening qualifying fixture against The Pro Select FC, as the former prevailed 6-5 on penalties after both teams had played out a 2-2 draw after regulation time, with experienced striker Paul Aba playing a key role in the dramatic win.

Ahead of today’s game, Ighalo is brimming with confidence, but Arich have already shown what they are capable of, which is their ability to handle pressure. With both teams determined to advance, another closely fought encounter could be on the cards.

Royalty Athletic FC vs Dynamic FC

The opening game for today pits Royalty Athletic FC against Dynamic FC in what promises to be a tactical battle.

Royalty Athletic FC began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Soccer Cardinals FC before winning 4-3 on penalties, while Dynamic FC recorded a convincing 3-1 victory over Vinod FC in the opening round.

Dynamic therefore have the advantage of entering the fixture on the back of a regulation-time victory, while Royalty will be looking to build on their resilience from the shootout win.

The two teams are both listed among the Ikeja Zone sides with three points, making today’s clash particularly important in the race for progression.

Emiloju FC vs Franceex United

Emiloju FC and Franceex United will renew their 1XCup challenge in the third fixture of the day.

Emiloju opened their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Evolution United FA, while Franceex United also secured a narrow 1-0 win against Team 360 FC.

With both sides already showing defensive discipline and an ability to grind out results, this could be another tight affair. Neither team will want to surrender the advantage early, meaning patience and efficiency in front of goal could prove decisive.

Goals FC vs Vido 99 FC

The final fixture of the day brings together Goals FC and Vido 99 FC. Both sides made winning starts as Goals FC snatched a 1-0 victory against Wasola FC, while Vido 99 FC were more impressive as they defeated Star To Be FA 2-0.

That makes this an intriguing contest between two teams who already know how valuable a strong start can be.

Goals FC will be hoping to maintain their defensive solidity, while Vido 99 will look to build on their two-goal performance.
